Community Interpretation as a Profession
Information Session Presented by Rosa Carrillo and Dr. Cecilia Castillo Participants will get acquainted with this relatively new field of community interpreting, and learn about requirements and job possibilities it offers to its practitioners. In this session, the presenters will discuss the roles of the Multicultural Community Service (MCS), and the Office on Latino Affairs (OLA) in the training and the support of new and experienced community interpreters. Participants will also receive information on the importance of the DC 2004 Language Access Law in the District of Columbia, and the impact that the work of community interpreters has in it. |
